I am delighted to be starting a course in microphenomenological interviewing, led by PD Dr. Prisca Bauer and Dr. Mathis Trautwein. The course runs from April to December 2026 and takes place online.

Microphenomenology is a scientific method for the systematic investigation of subjective experience. It enables the capture of lived experience at a high level of temporal and structural resolution, making it accessible for both research and practice. The method is used internationally in consciousness research, education, psychology, and cognitive science.

The course is directly relevant to our WIN-Kolleg research project at the Heidelberger Akademie der Wissenschaften, “Von Pathologie zum Potential”, which investigates extreme embodiment experiences — including flow states and dissociative experience — from philosophical, psychopathological, and therapeutic perspectives. Microphenomenological interviewing will be one of our core research methods.

The course is led by PD Dr. Prisca Bauer, a specialist in psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy with extensive clinical and scientific experience at the intersection of subjective experience, body awareness, and consciousness processes. She is a certified trainer for microphenomenological interviewing, trained by Prof. Claire Petitmengin, the founder of the method.
